We arrived at Palomino around 7:30pm, on a Wed and got seated right away in the bar, at a comfy table for two in the corner. Browsing through the menu, Laura was unsure of what cocktail to start with so the waitress was a lot of help, naming off drinks that she enjoyed & found popular.
DRINKS
Haley had: The Bartender Pomegranate Lemonade :
Stoli Blueberry, Pomegranate & fresh lemon sour.
"It was good until the end, the carbonation was only at the bottom of the drink so that was kind of a surprise!"
Laura had: The Berry Martini :
Stoli Blueberry, Chambord, Fresh lime sour,
Stoli Blueberi, Chambord, fresh lime sour, Gloria Ferrer Blanc de Noirs.
"Love the champagne bite to it, but a little too sugary and sweet for me."
Since I was a little disappointed with my first drink I ordered another, one that the waitress said was a popular pick.
Lavender Cosmo :
Absolut Mandrin, Parfait Amour, fresh lime sour, cranberry juice, lavender sugar rim.
"Delicious, an absolute must!!"
DINNER:
Appetizer: Grilled Asparagus and Prosciutto Bruschetta :
Garlic herb crostini, basil pesto, shaved Parmesan.
"We both agree that the appetizer was the best part of the night. It came with 3 solid pieces, with the asparagus on the bottom and covered with large, thinly sliced pieces of Parmesan cheese, melted just enough from the warm bread. Whatever the asparagus was marinated in was a perfect combination with the cheese and bread. Yum!"
Haley Ordered: King Crab Cake Trio
Saffron Rice, Orzo, Mushroom Duxelles, White Beans & Rapini.
"3 king crab cakes came out each on it's own bed of rice or veggies. To be honest I only really liked the first cake on a bed of orzo. The other two were either too salty, or too garlic-y. If it hadn't been for the appetizer I would've left hungry and disapointed."
Laura Ordered: Crab and Hazelnut Stuffed Cod
Hazelnut beurre blanc, grilled asparagus, orzo with herb and mushroom duxelle.
"The combination of the stuffed cod, asparagus and orzo was delicious. The cod was perfectly cooked & juicy trough out. Whole hazelnuts were sprinkled on top for just a little crunch, every other bite. I was only able to eat no more than half because it's a very rich meal, but definitely worth ordering if your hungry and a big seafood lover."
We decided to skip out on dessert because we were definitely stuffed by the end of our meals. The service was a little slow, but that's to be expected in a busy bar. Maybe next time we will try sitting in the dining area, but I know we would definitely go back again.
Thanks for dining with Haley & Laura. :)
